The meeting was held on Monday, April 25th at our Tech & Training Center location in the Airport Plaza in Warwick.
Congressman Jim Langevin was the featured speaker.
The meeting began with a welcome by Executive Director Mireille Sayaf. Susan Shapiro, Board President conducted a business meeting which included a review of programs, finances and the election of board members to new 3-year terms.
Congressman Langevin, who is retiring this year, spoke about his time in office, his own experience with disability and the current state of Independent Living and other disability-related matters. OSCIL staff members presented the Congressman with a gift “Key to OSCIL” which was a large metal key enclosed in a glass dome signifying that the door to OSCIL would always be open to him.
The winners of this year’s Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship were honored and awarded their certificates.
Margie Molloy, OSCIL IL Coordinator for the Deaf Services program was honored for her 10 years of service to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community in Rhode Island. She received a commemorative plaque and flowers recognizing her 10 year anniversary at OSCIL.
The meeting concluded with reports reviewing OSCIL’s programs and services by the Executive Director and Program Directors
Refreshments were served and masks and social distancing were strongly encouraged.
